Strelka Press is a digital-first publisher of new writing on architecture, design and the city. Reviving the essay as a popular form, it publishes critical writing in digital and print-on-demand editions. The publishing arm of the Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design in Moscow, it was the first publisher in its field to embrace ebooks, an example that many other publishers are now following. As art-directors our role is to complement the direction of the Press with a pioneering confident creative direction – consistent and recognisable yet able to surprise and provoke. Due to the complex nature of publishing across multiple platforms the design must be robust and easily adaptable – able to navigate a range of constraints with agility.
