An exhibition catalogue designed on the occasion of Ding Yi’s first solo show in London, presented by Timothy Taylor Gallery. The book presents new and old works within the artist’s ongoing investigation – Appearance of Crosses – in a set of specific scales. The book is extreme in its use of grid, repetitive captioning and white space, intentionally placing the works within a structure that heightens the awareness of the artists systematic approach to painting. The artist’s most recent works are accompanied with 1:1 detail crops, and all captions note the scale of the reproduction, giving the reader an idea of the scale and intricate detail of each work.
